Trio of PBL JH cross country runners earn trip to state


ST. JOSEPH – Three Paxton-Buckley-Loda Junior High School cross country runners will run in the IESA Class 2A state meet.

Julio Barradas finished eighth with a time of 12:02.62 at the St. Joseph Sectional on Saturday while Nolan Bunag finished 16th with a time of 12:45.93 to earn state qualification. On the girls’ side, Brooklyn Stafford earned state qualification with a 10th-place time of 13:56.87.

The PBL trio will run in the state meet next Saturday at Maxwell Park in Normal.

As a team, PBL finished fifth with a score of 124.

Andres Figueroa finished 35th with a time of 13:31.23, followed by Karsyn Rini (38th, 13:41.61), Cameron Hoffmann (46th, 14:16.73), Levi Turner (52nd, 14:30.21) and John Medler (63rd, 15:41.28).

The PBL girls finished ninth with a score of 224.

Harper Swinford finished 50th with a time of 15:47.67, followed by Morgan Loschen (51st, 15:49.36), Hayleigh Steele (67th, 16:47.33), Aleiyah Frichtl (69th, 17:04.64), Anna Reber (70th, 17:06.18) and Giselle Tufino (72nd, 17:09.28).
