PAXTON — Jean Marie Meuser, 75, of Paxton, died at 1:33 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, 2024, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 206 E. Main St., Buckley, with the Rev. J. Kevin Wyckoff officiating. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Buckley. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 8, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells St., Paxton.
Mrs. Meuser was born May 12, 1949, in Fairbury, the daughter of Ira Ralph and Marie Anna Janssen Stroup. She married Scott Alan Meuser on July 8, 1995, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Buckley. He survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Nikelle (David) Miller of Champaign; a son, Cory (Lisa) Matheny of Bloomington; six grandchildren, Zach Miller, Ally Miller, Jake Miller, Jessi Miller, Chris Miller and Elsie Matheny; two brothers, Don (Jan) Stroup of Princeville, Ill., and Mike (Jodi) Stroup of Springfield; and two sisters, Nancy (Dennis) Tavenner of Paxton and Bev (Rick) Colbert of Atoka, Tenn.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Meuser spent her childhood in Buckley and graduated from Buckley-Loda High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Concordia Teachers College. She was a teacher at the Loda Grade School and Clara Peterson Elementary School in Paxton for 30-plus years. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Buckley. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, garage sales, weekend trips, going to wineries and all kinds of music.
