GIBSON CITY – The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley varsity girls basketball team won 52-21 over Watseka on Saturday.
The Falcons (20-5) started the game with a 7-0 run, with all points scored by Lily Sizemore, who would finish the quarter with 15 points as GCMS ended the opening quarter with a 20-5 lead. Lizzie Giroux and Sophia Ray added three and two points, respectively, during the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Mallory Rosendahl scored 11 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, while Sizemore and Ray each added two points as the Falcons took a 35-13 lead into halftime.
Sizemore scored seven more points in the third quarter while Ray added two more as GCMS went into the fourth quarter leading 44-21. Ray scored four points in the fourth quarter while Giroux and Sizemore each contributed two points.
Sizemore finished with 26 points while Rosendahl and Ray also scored in double figures with 11 and 10 points, respectively. Giroux added five points.
