GIBSON CITY – The Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley varsity boys basketball team won 87-60 over Donovan in the IHSA Class 1A regional quarterfinals on Monday.
The fourth-seeded Falcons will face No. 12 seed Cissna Park in the regional semifinals at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Milford.
In the first quarter of Monday’s game, GCMS (18-12) took a 29-12 lead as Brayden Elliott scored 11 points during the quarter.
Austin Kasper added nine points while Graydon Leonard contributed four points and Ryker Grauer and Spencer Kleist tallied three and two points, respectively.
The Falcons outscored Donovan 20-16 to take a 49-28 halftime lead as Grauer had six points, Kasper and Elliott each had five points and Kleist and Leonard each had two points.
In the third quarter, Grauer had nine points while Elliott made two 3-pointers and Matt Allen, Leonard and Kasper each had two points as GCMS extended its lead to 70-43.
In the fourth quarter, Kasper had four points while Elliott had three points and Kleist, Leonard, Grauer, Paul Baillie and Mason Doman each had two points.
Elliott finished with a game-high 25 points while Grauer and Kasper each added 20 points and Leonard also scored in double figures with 10 points.
Kleist contributed six points while Doman, Baillie and Allen each tallied two points.
