Bloomington doctor charged with sex crimes against teen in Gibson City



PAXTON — A doctor at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington was charged last week with three felonies alleging he engaged in sexual activities with a 14-year-old in Gibson City.

Ford County State’s Attorney Andrew Killian on Thursday charged Kynan A. Brown, 41, of Bloomington, with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, a Class 2 felony, and one count of traveling to meet a minor, a Class 3 felony, in Ford County Circuit Court.

Brown remained in custody at the Ford County Jail in Paxton on Monday awaiting a preliminary hearing scheduled for 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 15, before Judge Matt Fitton.

According to charging documents, Brown engaged in sex acts with the child and used an online service to solicit the child for sex. If convicted, Brown faces penalties ranging from probation to up to seven years in prison for each of the two most serious charges.
