VARNA – The Cissna Park High School girls basketball team won 49-39 over Roanoke-Benson 49-39 in the IHSA Class 1A Varna Midland Sectional championship game on Thursday.
Lauryn Hamrick had 17 points and four rebounds for Cissna Park (29-4) while Addison Lucht had 14 points and five assists. Sophie Duis had six points and five rebounds while Josie Neukomm had six points and Julia Edelman had two points and three steals.
“It took four quarters of effort from the girls and they got it done,” Cissna Park head coach Anthony Videka said. “We worked hard on both ends of the floor to win the sectional.”
Cissna Park will play in the super-sectional for the second straight year. The Timberwolves will face Decatur St. Teresa at 6 p.m. Monday at Blue Ridge High School in Farmer City.
